FURTHER INFORMATION:
Traffic Control Course
This course provides participants with the necessary knowledge, skills and understanding of how to control traffic in a safe and effective manner in accordance with the procedures set out by Queensland Transport.
Students will receive a Statement of Attendance upon completion of this course.
Prerequisites:
Driver licence – Applicant must have held an Australian or foreign drivers licence for a continuous period of 12 months within the last 5 years. (If you are already a traffic controller and are renewing your accreditation, this requirement does not apply to you).
Offence history – Queensland Transport may refuse to grant accreditation if the applicant has been convicted of a criminal offence or charged with an offence. The motoring public put their trust in persons accreditated to control traffic and expect these people to be safety conscious at all times. (If you have a recent history of drug related or assault offences, it would be unlikely you will be accredited as a traffic controller.
Fees and Charges:
The course fee of $130 is payable upon commencement of the course.
An additional fee of $167.00 is payable to Queensland Transport upon lodgement of the application for a Queensland Transport Accredited Traffic Controller. This includes a Criminal History Check fee of $32.05. This new increased amount is to cover the cost of the new chip licences
Licences are valid for 3 years.
Duration:
Courses are currently 4-6 hours and occur every Wednesday.
Licensing Regulations:
A Statement of Attendance is issued upon completion of the course. This must be taken along with the Accredited Traffic Controller Application form and licence application fee to Qld Transport when lodging your Traffic Controller's Licence Application.
Changes to Traffic Controller approved Course
As from the 1st February 2012 Traffic Control will change over to RIIOHS205A Control Traffic with a Stop Slow Bat. The new course is a full 8 hour day training and participants are required complete an additional 20 hours on the site under the supervision by a Licenced Traffic Controller. Participants will still be required to complete an approved traffic controller course delivered by an RTO, must have held a licence for a continuous period of 12months in the last 5 years, pass the medical suitability requirements and criminal history check before loging their application with TMR. More information on this process is avaliable on the TMR website.
The new course will be offered at a different price that will accomodate the changes to the licencing requirements.
Traffic Control Refresher Course
This course is for those wanting to renew their Traffic Controller Accreditation Licence. The Traffic Control Refresher Course can be undertaken prior to expiration of the Traffic Controller Accreditation Licence and no later than 3 months after expiry. This course will cover any ammendments to legislation or changes to guidelines of the Traffic Management for Construction or Maintenance Work Code of Practice 2008.
Students will receive a Statement of Attainment upon completion of this course.

Students must provide their current Traffic Controller Accreditation Licence and Driver's Licence.

The course fee of $90 is payable upon commencement of the course.
An additional fee is payable to Queensland Transport upon lodgement of renewal of the the application.

Courses are currently 4-6 hours and occur every Wednesday.
Licensing Regulations:
A Statement of Attainment is issued upon completion of the course. This must be taken along with the Accredited Traffic Controller renewal form and licence renewal fee to Qld Transport when lodging your Traffic Controller's Licence Application.
Level 2 Traffic Management (30864QLD Implement Traffic Guidance Schemes)
This course provides the skills and knowledge required to implement a traffic guidance scheme for roadwork’s ensuring traffic flow is maintained and safety of the public and workers is maximised.
This unit requires compliance with the:
· Code of Practice “Traffic Management for construction or maintenance work 2008 Qld”
· Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) – Part 3
· Transport Operations Road Use Management Act and Regulations 1995 (& Transport and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2011)
· Site specific Traffic Guidance Scheme
Work performance requires a range of well developed skills where some discretion and judgment is required and individuals will take responsibility for their own outputs.
Candidates are required to demonstrate competence of this unit by implementing three (3) varying traffic guidance schemes on live roadwork job sites.
When you have completed the theoretical training, completed the written assessment and have implemented the three (3) varying traffic guidance schemes on live roadwork job sites, you will have successfully completed the elements which make up the competency unit 30864Qld Course in Implement Traffic Guidance Schemes.

No entry requirements apply
Fees and Charges:
The course fee of $350 is payable on commencement of the course. No further charges apply.
DURATION:
The theoretical training and written assessment is held over one (1) day. Candidates have six (6) months to implement the three (3) varying traffic management schemes on live roadwork job sites.
Licensing Regulations:
A Statement of Attendance is issued upon completion of the 1 day theoretical course. A Statement of Attainment issued upon completion of the three (3) varying traffic management schemes on live roadwork job sites.
