Units of Competency Include:

 

OHSCER219A Perform Basic Scaffolding Operations - SB Licence

This unit of competency covers the functions required to perform basic scaffolding operations.  Basic Scaffolding includes prefabricated and bracket (tank and formwork scaffolds).

 

Course duration is 3 days.  A Statement of Attainment will be issued to applicants who successfully complete the Unit of Competency and provide their Log Books or proof of 120 hours on-the-job training.  The Log Book must be signed by a competent supervisor who has a SB Basic Scaffolding Licence.

 

COST: $750

 

OHSCER220A Perform Intermediate Scaffolding Operations - SI Licence

This unit of competency covers the functions required to perform intermediate scaffolding operations.  Intermediate Scaffolding includes tube and coupler, spurred and cantilever scaffolds.

 

Course duration is 3 days.  A Statement of Attainment will be issued to applicants who successfully complete the Unit of Competency and provide their Log Books or proof of 120 hours on-the-job training.  The Log Book must be signed by a competent supervisor who has a SI Intermediate Scaffolding Licence.

 

COST: $750


OHSCER221A Perform Advanced Scaffolding Operations - SA Licence

 This unit of competency covers the functions required to perform advanced scaffolding operations.  Advanced Scaffolding includes suspended and tube/wire rope/chain hung scaffolds.

 

Course duration is 3 days.  A Statement of Attainment will be issued to applicants who successfully complete the Unit of Competency and provide their Log Books or proof of 120 hours on-the-job training.  The Log Book must be signed by a competent supervisor who has a SA Advanced Scaffolding Licence.

 

COST: $750

 

Course Description

These units of competency have been developed in accordance with the licensing and assessment requirements of (NOHSC:1006 [2001]).

Training provided is for people who wish to become scaffolders or for experienced scaffolders who wish to upgrade their knowledge, skills and employment opportunities.

Sun Coast Training & Accreditation conducts training courses for:

- Basic Scaffolding,

- Intermediate Scaffolding,

- Advanced Scaffolding. 

 

Each unit of competency is a separate licensing requirement.  Each step must be followed before moving onto the next, ie. a student must hold a basic scaffolding licence before obtaining an intermediate scaffolding licence, and must hold an intermediate scaffolding licence before obtaining an advanced scaffolding licence.

 

Students must complete for each individual licence:

- the theoretical course and written assessment,

- obtain 120 hours of signed log book (on-the-job) training as a Basic Scaffolder or Intermediate Scaffolder or Advanced Scaffolder.  On the job training/practical experience must be supervised by someone who holds the applicable Scaffolding Licence and the Log book to be signed by them.

- Complete a practical assessment

 

Alternatively a letter from your employer and proof of employment may be provided, with the employer stating that you have completed 120 hours of (on-the-job) training as either a basic scaffolding, intermediate scaffolder or advanced scaffolder.  This letter is proof of your practical experience and can be counted towards your log book requirement.

 

Course Duration

 

Basic Scaffolding is 1 Unit of Competency: Perform Basic Scaffolding Operations. The nominal duration for this unit of competency is 40 hours (supervised training and assessment only - 32-34 hours supervised training, 4-8 hours supervised assessment) totalling 3 days.   In addition the learner is required to undertake supervised on the job training of 120 nominal hours recorded in a log book . Upon completion of the on the job training of 120 nominal hours, the student can undertake their practical assessment.

 

Students are required to complete a written and practical examination and must answer all questions correctly to be deemed competent to receive their Statement of Attainment and SB Licence.

Course Prerequisites

A student must hold a Basic Scaffolding Licence before enrolling in an Intermediate Scaffolding Course

 

A student must hold an Intermediate Scaffolding Licence before enrolling in an Advanced Scaffolding Course.

 

Course Requirements

  • Students are required to be 18 years or over
  • Students are to wear closed in shoes (steel caps)
  • Students must have a basic understanding of mathematics to work out formula associated with scaffolds.

 

 

Students to bring:

  • a calculator (with square root function);
  • hard hat;
  • scaffold belt and tools;
  • safety vest and equipment;
  • Drivers Licence (photo identification is required).

Delivery

All training and assessment is conducted at our “One Stop Training Shop” located at 219 Forestry Road, Landsborough, however, courses can be conducted at the client's premises provided the training room facilities and the available swing stage scaffold are suitable.  All scaffolding procedures as well as practical assessments are conducted under cover.

 

 

Fees & Charges

Course fees are payable on commencement of each course.  The fee includes:

- theoretical course

- written assessment

- issuance of training plan/log book

- practical assessment

 

Basic Scaffolding course fee:

 $750 per person 

 

Intermediate Scaffolding course fee: 

 $750 per person

 

Advanced Scaffolding fee:

 $750 per person 

 

 

Course fees do not include use of Scaffolding equipment to obtain log book hours.  An additional fee of $72 is payable upon lodgement of your licence application.  Licence applications can be lodged at any participating Australia Post outlet.

 

If you are a worker in the Queensland Building and Construction Industry and complete a training course for a licenced outcome ie. plant or high risk, you may be eligible for reimbursement for an amount up to $500 from Construction Skills Queensland under their Reimbursements for Post Trade Training scheme.  Please visit www. csq.org.au or contact them on 1800 798 488 to determine your eligibility.  Please note that eligibility criteria and limits apply.

 

 

Licensing Regulation

Students will be issued with a Statement of Attendance upon successful completion of the theoretical course and written assessment.  A Statement of Attainment will be issued upon completion of the Log Book requirement and practical assessment.
