CERTIFICATE IV in OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use well-developed skills and a broad knowledge base in a wide variety of contexts. They apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others. This qualification would suit an OHS officer in a full-time dedicated role who works under the supervision of an OHS Coordinator or OHS Manager.

Structure
This qualification consists of 9 units of competency which may include topics such as:
· implementation of a systematic approach to managing OHS
· Identify hazards and assess OHS risks
· implementation of strategies to control OHS risk
· conduct workplace monitoring
· Identify risk and apply risk management processes
Roll out
This qualification is delivered over 4 intensive workshop style days which are followed up with workplace activities and evidence gathering. The participant has up to 12 months to submit evident / assessments from time of completion of the course.
Out Come
Students who are deemed competent will be awarded with a statement of attainment in BSB41407 Certificate IV in Occupational Health & Safety. This is a nationally recognised qualification
WHSO to CERTIFICATE IV in OH&S BRIDGING
Participants who hold a WHSO ticket are able to participate in a 2 day intensive workshop style course to upgrade their current WHSO tickets to a Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety. This will include the application of the RPL (recognition of prior learning) process as well as GAP training. Participants will be required to provide documented evidence from their current and past workplaces as well as any projects they have participated in. They wll also be required to complete workplace assessments.
DIPLOMA of OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY
Descriptor
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who coordinate and maintain the OHS program within an organisation. Individuals would possess a sound theoretical knowledge base and use a range of specialised, technical or managerial competencies to plan, carry out and evaluate their own work and the work of others with safety responsibilities.

Structure
This qualification consists of 8 units of competency which may include topics such as:
· coordination and maintenance of a systematic approach to managing OHS
· management of the OHS information and data systems
· design and development of OHS participative arrangements
· OHS risk management
· manage hazards in the work environment
· investigation of incidents
Roll out
This course will be delivered over the course of 5 days in an intensive style workshop with the participant being required to provide evidence from workplace and participate in workplace assessments. These will need to be completed within 12 months of completion of the course.
Out Come
Students who are deemed competent will be awarded with a statement of attainment in BSB51307 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety. This is a nationally recognised qualification.
