CHAINSAW – LEVEL 1

 

 

FPICOT2221B TRIM AND CROSS CUT FELLED TREES


Course Overview

This course describes the outcomes required to trim and cross cut felled trees with a chainsaw and covers maintenance of equipment and general workplace legislative and regulatory requirements.  Students will learn how to trim and cross cut felled trees with a chainsaw in a variety of work settings including a forest environment and farm, agriculture, domestic and local council applications, as relevant to the unit. The skills and knowledge required for competent workplace performance are to be used within the scope of the person's job and authority.

 

This learning package is intended for use by those completing the Competency Unit FPICOT2221 Trim and Cross Cut Felled Trees as part of Civil Construction training.

 

The Chainsaw - Level 1 course deals with the knowledge and skills required to trim and cross cut felled trees and so includes specific details on:

• Regulations and safe work procedures;
• Analyzing and organising work loads
• Environmental protection measures
• Legislative requirements
• Pre-start checks
• Chainsaw operation and cutting techniques
• Routine maintenance of chainsaws
• Recording and reporting systems

 

When you have achieved all the Assessment Criteria in the Assessment Task and your work has been checked and certified by your instructor, you will have successfully completed the elements which make up competency unit FPICOT2221B – Trim & Cross Cut Felled Trees.

 

Entry Requirements

Participants will need to have: 
• Own chainsaw, spanner and file
• Personal Protective Equipment (cut proof pants, helmet with visor or hard hat and safety goggles,

  earmuffs or earplugs)
• basic literacy/numeracy skills.

 

Delivery

All training and assessment is conducted at our “One Stop Training Shop” located at 219 Forestry Road, Landsborough, however, courses can be conducted at the client's premises provided the training room facilities are suitable. 

 

Duration

This course is held over one (1) day and includes face to face training and theory assessment.

 

Fees and Charges

The Course fee of $250 is payable at commencement of the course.

 

Refund Policy

The Refund Policy confirms that refunds are provided as appropriate within an acceptable time frame.

 

Units of Competency

This course covers one (1) Unit of Competency:  FPICOT2221B – Trim and Cross Cut Felled Trees.

 

Employability Skills

Employability skills are non-technical skills which play a significant part in contributing to an individual's effective and successful participation in the workplace. FPIFGM3204A FALL TREES MANUALLY - INTERMEDIATE


Course Overview

This course describes the outcomes required to assess, plan and safely carry out intermediate manual tree falling operations.  This course is intended for use in situations where the production of timber is not the primary focus of the activity.  Compliance with licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements may be required in various jurisdictions. 

 

This learning package is intended for use by those completing the Competency Unit FPIFGM3240A Fall Trees Manually – Intermediate as part of Civil Construction training and supports the attainment of skills and knowledge required for competent workplace performance in forest and forest products operations of all sizes.  The unit applies to a forest environment and involves application of skills and knowledge at a tradesperson level. These skills and knowledge are to be used within the scope of the person's job and authority.

 

The Chainsaw - Level 2 course deals with the knowledge and skills required to fall trees manually and so includes specific details on:
• Regulations and safe work procedures;
• Analyzing and organising work loads
• Environmental protection measures
• Legislative requirements
• Assessing trees and planning fall
• Preparing and maintaining falling equipment

 

When you have achieved all the Assessment Criteria in the Assessment Task and your work has been checked and certified by your instructor, you will have successfully completed the elements which make up competency unit FPIFGM3204A – Fall Trees Manually (Intermediate).
